Selling my car but has a private plate?

Hi all

Im selling my car but it has my private plate on that i want to keep. What do you think is the best thing to do? Get the plates removed then sell it (takes around 4-6 weeks ) or sell it and ask the buyer (and trust them) to go through the change process for me and transfer the plates to me?

Im not bothered about putting them on my next car straight away.

Has anyone been through this recently? What did you do?

Why don't you just transfer the plate from its current car to the new car yourself? Or if you haven't got the new car yet put it on retention

I'd personally keep the car until the original plate is transferred back on, my mate had to do this a few weeks ago and took about 3 weeks to all go through

Then just keep your plate on retention until you want it on your new car

I wouldn't trust someone else to do it

Thanks for the advice guys. I have JUST this minute sold it! But thankfully I know him (or i should say i know his brother) so ill trust him to get it transfered and given back to me when it is all done. Thanks again!
