In this thread: Grip and Handling are the same thing.

Evo timed the standard 2005 STI round the Bedford circuit at 1:26.40

The Ferrari F430 was timed at 1:24.2 some 2 seconds quicker.

Can't find a time for the 360, but on that basis isn't going to be much faster, if at all than the stock STI. And with 400bhp its a completely different ballgame.

I wasn't disputing the track times.

Handling isn't about lap times. An MX5 handles better than an S600 BiTurbo but the S600 BiTurbo would get around a track much quicker.

daft thing it probably goes round a track quicker too. Imprezas arent exactly bad handling cars. its not a 400bhp astra we're talking about here.

And?

One is a gorgeous V8 mid engined supercar, the other is a 4 door rally car with a big wing, and a turbo.

Seriously you make a lot of things go quicker round a track than a 360, not exactly the point is it.

Nevermind, i thought you were disputing my claim it would probably be faster round a track.

depends if you just want a fast car or not.

Ferraris are usually the first car that gets mentioned when it comes to yard sticks.

Because a Ferrari is fast, exotic, and out of everyones reach. People who cannot afford a Ferrari and never will like to think they dont need one anyway because look at my wikid tuned scooby m8.

you should get a sweepstake going as to who gets one first :D

Then it will be a case of who has the better STI or made the better purchase. ;)

If they were sensible they'd pair up, go to a dealer with plenty of used Scooby STI's and ask them to cut a deal for buying a pair at same time. :)

It's not the fact that it may or may not be faster than a Ferrari, it is the fact that the type of person you ideally want to buy a car from, much less an extensively modified one. You get to a point where it is just poor form. The type of person I'd like to buy a car like that from would be the type of person who understands that there is more to cars than figures, I imagine most people still be the same.

I'm not saying that it is a bad car or lashed together, but he certainly isn't doing himself any favours.

i like the idea of a sweepstake

cant see me getting mine

in fairness i think gibbo is right. a test drive would be the best idea but you can get a lot more looking at private sales. seen some nice examples for £6.5k whereas a trade equivalent is going for around 2K more. :(

Trust me mate, buy from trade, if you work at them hard, they will come to a fair price. I got my EVO below private sale price. I got 3k of the list price.

You can easily get 1k of an 8k car, that makes it 7k, only £500 more, then for your £500 notes extra you get them to give you as much warranty as possible, tax, fuel, absolutely anything.

I always try to get a dealer/garage whatever you want to call them to match a private price where possible. I'd only buy private now if it was a very special car or a very well known car. :)

With a garage/dealer, always go and look at the car, if you like it express lots of interest, when it comes to making the deal, simply tell them what you want to pay, they will either laugh in your face or try to come to some deal. Then when they think they have you, just turn and say its still a bit more than I was looking to pay and well leave (make sure you gave them your number earlier on). Most will call you back within 48hrs basically saying something like I've spoken to the manager/owner and they are willing to make you this offer. Then you either accept or try haggling more. :)

A garage always tries to get a higher price than they expect, because some pay it. So there is always movement, on some cars more than others it all depends on what the car owes them. Remember end of month is best time to purchase. ;)

Well if you come and still want your spec-c maybe even more of a deal could be had then

There is no dealers selling those, they only get sold private or there is one UK importer who only deals in Spec C and the other limited edition stuff. ;)

Though if a dealer existed damn you'd get a good deal if one was to walk in and to say "right were gonna buy 3 cars today, so you gonna cut us a deal" :D :D
