Hi all,

I recently bought these earphones from a reputable online rainforest-type store to replace my standard iPod ones. I was eagerly awaiting an improvement in sound quality.

I have never heard such a pathetic sound in my life.

I've tried them with both my iPod and my laptop, and they are completely devoid of any bass and basically sound very feeble. Not what I was expecting at all.

Does anyone else own a pair? Are mine faulty? I read a few things on the internet about a lot of fakes going around but as I say, I bought them direct from the online store (not the marketplace) and the packaging was too good to be knock-off.

If anyone has any input it would be appreciated.

Thanks. :)

Don't mean to sound patronising, but have you stuck them in your ears properly?

They're pretty good for me for what they cost, and most certainly an improvement over any stock earphones.

heard the same myself. make sure you have stuck them in ya ears properly. you need to get a good seal.

I've heard they're quite bassy however I'm going to keep an eye on this thread as I might purchase some for a zen stone. Actually as a side note what level encription are your songs as they could be poorly encripted meaning higher quality earphones producing the low quality sound from the recordings.

they certainly arent high quality earphones, but they should still be more than bassy enough for anybody.

New head/earphones take a month of normal use to "break in" then it sounds a lot better, at least that's what i've been told anyway. Seems true with my PX100.

thats rubbish too lol. they certainly may smooth out a little or liven up a little, but they wont go from no bass to wow my kidneys are vibrating no matter how long you run them in for lol

lol, no problem mate, it was a good question to ask. I'll admit I'm not used to the style, they feel a bit weird. I've messed around with the bud cover things and seem to have a better fit for my ear, which has improved the bass a lot.

They still seem a little bit trebly but more than listen-able. I'm not sold on whether they are better than the standards I was using but the sound is certainly different. But then again I'm not an audiophile. The noise-canceling certainly works though.

The main thing is it looks like I haven't been sold fakes or faulty ones, so no need to return them. Its my fault if I simply "don't like them".

Thanks for your help. :)

Wow - 7 replies in the time I took to post my own. You're a helpful bunch. :D

Its looking like its my own ignorance, and not the fault of the earbuds. My main gripe was all the reviews I'd read said they had good bass and the fake ones were tinny.

I think it may have been a bit of a knee-jerk reaction, but I've spent three weeks tracking this order (it was lost and parcelforce and royal mail said the other one had lost it) so for them to be "rubbish" afterall was the straw that broke the camel's back. :D

Thanks again everyone.

is there anything better than the Sennheiser CX300 for around the same price mark ?

Shure E2C.

I'd never buy any headphones from an independant seller. When I bought cx 300's they were fake, always buy from a retailer.

both the shure and the sonys seem to cost a fair bit more than the Sennheiser CX300s. are the worth paying the extra for them

i just got some of these, they are certainly a step up from the standard earphones, and at last some earphones that actually stay in my ear! the people working at creative must have very large deformed ears or something.

i like em they sound good, isolate well and are pretty cheap, ace buy :)

Just a quick update. Got a bit more used to them and they're actually pretty good. Amazing what a bit of tweaking can do.

I might pop in here again when I come to replace my full headphones. :)
