Sentimentality and old hardware

But how could anyone throw out old friends like the Celeron 300A, the Hercules Stingray 64, or anything with 3DFX printed on it?

I've still got my very first self-build PC under my desk - Celeron 300A and Voodoo3 still going strong. Still used for a few bits and pieces (particularly for connectivity to a specialist printer with serial-only interface) :) :o

I got much better when we moved a few years ago, it was a good semi-fresh start and I have smaller rooms now, so it's necessary. There's still quite a lot of toot in the loft though.

I tend to get rid of my old hardware when the new stuff arrives so the yay factor out weighs the loss and then I completely forget about it.

I took an original IBM PC into work a few years ago, it was the only hardware that would run some kind of testing machine they still used.
8088, MFM (maybe RLL) drive, Hercules graphics, green screen, it all still worked fine
I left it there, so it's probably in a skip now otherwise I'd probably still have it.
