Love this thread. Gibbo get's into office and thinks, hmm... how can I drum up some sales for the 480 stock that is about to arrive soon. I know, let me create a thread that makes the 480 look like an awesome deal and get everyone exited so that when i announce the deal on the forums in a few hours people will pounce at it :)

Anyway, very very good deal I think. Makes the 480 a great buy for price for performance. If I never got a 6970 from another forum member on a super cheap deal recently I would have gone for it :)

Keep getting deals like this coming Gibbo, well done.

On the back of the posts in here I have just ordered the 480, looking forward to getting decent framerates at 1920x1200 now :D

Stunning price on the GTX 480 guys. If you factor in a third-party cooler as well, you have an absolutely superb card for under £250.

480 would destroy the 560.

It's actually a little more complicated than that. If you compare a £200 GTX 560, say for instance this one here, the GTX 480 is slightly better. However, if you add a heavily overclocked GTX 560 such as this one here into the mix, the GTX 560 is slightly better than a stock GTX 480. All though, it is slightly more expensive. If you start overclocking the GTX 480 though, then it's obviously going to be the better card. As the prices currently stand, the GTX 480 is certainly the card to get.

The 570 can also overclock to almost 580 stock speeds. Just like the 480. The best thing for the 480 is that it has more VRAM which is necessary for things such as higher resolutions and AA. It has been proven that games such as Stalker and Metro can easily eat through 1280MB (570 memory size) at 1920x1200 with AA maxed out.
What the above says, although if you can put up with the constant VAX Vaccuum Cleaner in your case get the GTX 480 or get better non reference cooler or stick the PC in a sound proof cupboard. :D

We all know why are Asus selling off these cards cheap, they got that much stock of GTX 480 backlog they need to shift them even at a loss (They wont sell at full price!) or maybe the costs been shifted onto Nvidia.

Good deal though, thats for sure.
