I have a HP microserver running Windows 2012, I can do the basics but I'm not great. An IT friend set it up for me. The drives are about full so I have new 4TB drives to go in. I have the new drive in and showing as expected, what's the best way to transfer the folders across, basically 3 shared folders on the current drive that have permissions set up.

Anyone able to give me a basic guide or should I wait till my friend is available?

Thanks

I assume they're not yet formatted and showing in Windows else it'd be a simple copy and paste job?

Depending on how you've set up your original drives, you'll need to access the Smart Storage management console to get the controller card to properly present them. I am not sure if there's another way to access it (I have a gen 8 Microserver too) but I usually restart and press F10 (I think that's the key, it says so on startup anyway) to enter the setup.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I'm sorted now, wasn't sure if I could copy and paste and keep the shares. I did it in cmd and used /h etc. to ensure it got everything.
