Hi Guys,

Just a quickie, I have no time at the minute so i have taken my car to a Focus RS and ST Specialist who are very well known throughout the country for their work.
It my Third year service at just under 19500 miles too, i serviced it last November and since only covered 4500 miles. I have asked for Castrol oil and not the cheaper ford standard oil and was given a very Reasonable price of £199 all in, Ford wanted £295.
However, i have just taken a call from the mechanic himself, he told me that there were a few issues, first being my front wishbone bushes are goners, 1 is perished and one is leaking, apparently this is common on the ST's after 15k???

I was told that he can replace these with some Powerflex bushes for £205 all in.

However looking on the bay, you can pick the bushes up for £30 or so, am i being taken for a ride?

The reason i ask the question is the past two times i have been to them, not for any work but just a chat, they have told two other ST owners that their bushes had gone too.

Many thanks.

they are a pain in the backside to fit so high labour costs, and £30 for a bush kit? thats well cheap? Where from because i want some.

Well i went on the bay and looked for Powerflex Front Wishbone Bush Focus ST 2.5.
Wham then they were there, i went to Profile-Automotive in stockport, very good garage who specialse only in ST's and RS's with some amazing show cars, the owner is an retired pro rally driver and is the only authorized distributor for Code:Red.

I've watched the guys at profile change my front bushes, what a pain it looked, so £200 for both fitted is a good deal considering how much of a faf on it was cutting the old ones off.

Your not alone. Have just had a quick look on the STOC forum and others have had the same issue! Even on a 59 plate with 8,900 miles on the clock

£205 all in is the price quoted at Profile on the forum too so all sounds correct. Powerflex replacements are ~£37+VAT each + Fitting. Ford ones are £197 as they come as part of the whole wishbone.

yeah they have to burn out the old ones or something, mine went at 25k on my ST, so its not uncommon, power flex is the way to go

what bushes are being changed with powerflex? its a bit pointless just changing the wish bone bushes

Had the front wishbone bushes replaced on the Mini with Powerflex and they are a right nuisance to get the old ones out so labour is the major expense.
