Service + mot price check

My better half is getting prices to get her 06 meganne serviced and mot'd, the price quoted from and independant renault specialist is £175 inc for the service and £54 inc for the mot. This seems a little high to me?

From a specialist £175 is about right. Ford are charging £180 for a full service excl brake fluid change! £54 for the MOT again, sounds right from the main dealer. You could off course go cheaper by choosing a non dealership mechanic, but then you'll loose dealer service history.

It is not a main dealer but a place round the corner called ren-tech, a few of her friends recommended them as a cheaper alternative to main dealer but still sounded expensive to me.

Sounds pretty damn reasonable to me tbh. I'd be inclined to stick to the main dealer for an 06 car, then again how much longer do you expect to keep it ?

If it's not main dealer then you might as well go main dealer if you are going to pay those prices!

Nothing 'pretty damn reasonable' about a £54 MOT - its the maximum standard price. If you are going to pay that you may as well get it done at a Renault dealer!

Well I meant the service cost actually, I think I paid about £44 for my last MOT.
