Can anyone confirm ? I have tried ringing Setanta but cannot get through.

Thanks

What about TV's with built in Freeview?

Unless the TV is topup compatible you havent got a hope, most decent brands & expensive sets come with the slots.

I ask because my Samsung HD LCD TV has a slot, but it's way too big to take a card.

It will be one of the older slot types, I know they changed them a while back.

IIRC they only do the TV+ box now which recive topup TV,

What is Top-Up TV?
If you've not come across Top-Up TV before, here's some background:

Top Up TV launched in March 2004, offering Freeview viewers a number of extra channels, on a subscription-basis. To get this service, you needed a special set-top box with a suitable viewing card slot. Until September 2006, eleven channels were broadcast on Top Up TV, but over subsequent months, the number of channels and broadcasting hours began being reduced, to make room for Top Up TV Anytime. The basic service is no longer available to new customers, now that 'Anytime' is available. Customers of the original service that haven't moved to Anytime yet, now pay £4.99 a month access to a limited amount of live content. As of June 2007, the remaining live TUTV channels are:

UKTV Gold (4pm-1am), UKTV Style (1pm-4pm) and British Eurosport (7:30am to 10am)

Top Up TV has now moved over to "Anytime", and the old basic service is no longer available to new customers. New and existing customers are now offered "Top Up TV Anytime".

Is that a CAM slot (Conditional Access Module) and then the subscription card goes in that? (ie put CAM into slot in tv, and then subscription card into CAM)

When you subscribe to Setanta Sports is that the whole lot for £9.99 like the football, golf and NASN Sports?

Yep, that's the bugger. Don't suppose you know where to get one of the modules from do you?

Hmm, I just went to http://subscribe.setanta.servecast.com/setanta/ and told it I was in GB with Freeview, filled in the address, and then it came up with this:
Hardware details
Before we can proceed with your order we need to establish what Freeview hardware you already have.

Please select the relevant option below:
  • I have a Freeview box and I have a Freeview card
  • I have a Freeview Box, it has a Card Slot, but I don't have a viewing card
  • I have a Freeview box but it doesn't have a viewing card slot
  • I have an Integrated Digital Television
  • I need everything - a set top box and a viewing card
  • I don't know - help!!!

So I selected "I have an Integrated Digital Television" and it came up with the following:
In order to receive Setanta Sports on an Integrated Digital TV you will need to order a Conditional Access Module (CAM).
You can order one from us now for £29.99.

Simply fill out your credit card details below, then continue with your order for your Setanta Sports subscription.
Please note that payment for a Conditional Acess Module is separate to the payment for your monthly subscription, which we will take at the end of the ordering process.

That sounds like the right idea....

Nope all alive and kicking :) Its TopUp Anytime now, just like the virgin on demand stuff, it records to your box overnight and you can watch all the programs when every you want at anytime of the day.
