Run SETI on a GPU?
Run SETI on only one PC?

Just a note to say that there will be no news next week due to me being away on holiday.

We passed the 350,000,000 mark this week, congrats to all! Also, our RAC's going through the roof, approaching 600,000 – the highest it's ever been!

I've added a single PC league to the news, although with only four members currently registered I'll have to see if it's worth continuing long-term.

Welcome to the new members, and as always congrats to the tiffy winners! Don’t forget that you can get your tiffies from www.teamocuk.co.uk; simply click on your username, scroll to the bottom of the page and use the relevant urls to display them in all their Technicolor beauty on this forum! If you think you have been missed off the milestones list, please let me know and I’ll add you manually.

i think the single pc league is a great idea, will be added to it myself once ive stomped slashiem.

it would also be interesting if we could add a level of energy consumption (lower the better) into a league - i know it would be virtually impossible to achieve, but would be interesting to see who had the most energy efficient setup per credit. could we meaure our pcs energy use over a 24hr period & post results along with credit gained during that period?? or something on those lines?? or a waste of time??

just athought.

I think an energy consumption league would be interesting. However, I'm not sure many of us will have energy meters knocking about and I'm pretty sure most of us would find it terrifying to know how much electricity BOINC is gobbling, so I'm not sure if such a league would ever get off the ground :D

i agree, will probablly not get off the ground. i might get a meter and get some readings. then maybe 'pass it on' to others who would like to contribute.

its craaaazy! Shaving super number of days off our next team stomp, in one week, and jumping 2 places in world RAC! I mean its not hard to envisage coming in 4th or 5th in the world in terms of RAC- looking at the RAC output of GPU users group, I guess its all down to these crazy GPUs....
come on team, lets get-a-stompin!

Fantastic news post :D. Team is doing very well right now, although I'm expecting to drop dramatically in a week's time. the 8 core Xeon machine will be restored back to it's former idle state. If only I could do some work with the PS3 but that would end up killing it as I've done that twice before :o

Excellent News......

Also due to my RAC still rising +40k even with loosing one of the Hybrids - I've decided not to go ahead with the purchase of the GTX465.

Will give it a few more weeks to see how things settle.

Must admit the thought of stomping the german team is keeping me going, but for now i'll settle for taiwan...which would make us even for 30 years of substandard plastic childrens toys...Have a good day all.

Quick Question:

How do the GTX2xx's run using the new app's for the GTX4xx's?

Not as well. Stick to the GPU2 app till the bugs are ironed out, the conspiracy theorist think that "the man" has to make the 400 series look better than the 200 series or no-one will buy them, but I just think its a bug.

New one doesn't seem to affect G92 type cards so much

New = lower temps/lower points
Old = higher points/higher temps

Average 10% production loss on GPU3

Does that mean Fermi will work on the normal Lunatic apps?

Without splitting the GPU into two?

i.e.

<coproc>
<type>CUDA</type>
<count>0.5</count>

Help is appreciated.

My combined gas and water bill is £180 a month. Of that about half is SETI.
