Just bought a Zyxel NSA310 NAS and a western digital Live streamer to replace my HTPC.
All I want from the NAS is to be able to use it like a windows shared folder and be able to access all my data, photo's, movies and music on my network and have the WD Live play movies, photo's and music from it.
Do I have to have it setup as a media server and can I just copy all my data, movies and music etc. in to the public folder on the NAS as the sync backup only appears to backup the public folder?
Do I have to use the video, music and photo folders that are already created on the NAS and is there any advantage in doing so?
