Shades of Grey books - everyone I know is obsessed!

Never heard of these books, but by the sound of them I'd not be even vaguely interested in them. I wouldn't be put off a book that 'everyone' is reading though, I read what I like, popular or no.

Just out of interest, are you like this with other things (e.g. Films, TV series, Music etc) or is it just books.

hyped books are hyped because of mass appeal, they're usually easy to get into and read quickly but not very deep. I've mildly enjoyed a few of the dan brown books as a quick disposable read.

If you mean me yes and no. (straddle that fence :p)

I like what I like and if I see a fad I will look into it but my default position is one of distrust. I tend to know far in advance what I'm after so if something comes along incredibly hyped I may be looking forward to it but not because of the hype machine.

It was aimed at the OP when I wrote it but really it's a valid question for anyone in the thread :)

I'm the same with all of them as I am with books, I like what I like. I don't really get why you wouldn't be interested in something you would normally have been interested in just because it is popular (which is what seems to have been described originally).

My wife calls these books 'mummy porn' I must admit I have benefitted from these books and I was for a few weeks getting 'it' more than the average man;) My wife enjoyed the books but without the 'soft porn' it would be a very poor book which is poorly written.
