I'm new to this forum / thread / posting so I would like some advice.

One of my friends introduced me to this and I have since realised that this friend documents everything on this. I was quite shocked by this but.....is this normal?? Because people don't know eachother on here does that make it easier and not wierd to go into depth about your thoughts?

Well this is a forum. Forums are for discussion.

If your friend feels comfortable enough to share his problems here, then that is up to him. Some people will give honest, detailed advice and responses, and some others will just troll him.

It's pretty normal for people to talk about their issues here though. Also, it burns when I pee.

i duno....just shocked me just how honest he was and how everything gets documented.

I suggest you get tested for STIs

Some people do rather air their dirties on here, but it's no worse than FB.

Also, has said friend typed anything about you that you'd rather not have read? That could make for an awkward time next time you encounter one another. I say keep reading, there's bound to be something here that'll taint your friendship forever more.

true and with FB there's photographic evidence.

lol i've resisted the urge to read more

It's to do with the fact that the internet acts as a screen between yourself and the real world. People will admit things they wouldn't admit in real life because there are no consequences [most of the time] and they can get advice or opinion from others in the community. Pretty obvious stuff.

I think it must be a surprise to see all this stuff here if you didn't know it about him and if he's shy in real life. That must be a bit odd.

Oh, and if people are saying you sound familiar it's because it's an old tradition here of people trying to be more clever than they actually are and hinting you're an old banned poster under a new name. Which is actually quite rude and only highlights their own ignorance. However, these days people are very bad at being clever here so I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah it is strange seeing everything written down....good for him for talking and being open etc....but still don't know what to make of it.

Ah ok - the familiar thing makes more sense know. I can assure you all I am no old banned poster under a new name! Speaking of being new.....is there anyway this site updates you when someone has replied to a thread/post?

To put things in perspective for you, there are other sites on the internet whose forums do not demand registration. You just walk in and post. There, people will literally post anything they can think of because they are anonymous. The internet can be one big cauldron of secrecy.

And don't even get me on people with multiple aliases.

But has this taken place of speaking to people face to face?
