Shattered toe nail

Phone NHS direct they're very helpful over the phone. Doubt its anything to worry about as long as the nail broke cleanly, no bits stabbing your toe or anything. Looks painful though :(

Took no chances, after the gangrine post.. Went to the quacks and they've diagnosed me with an open fracture.. Gave me a tetnus or however you spell it. Loaded me up with antibiotics and some heavy duty percocet pain killers. NICE !

Hurts like a biaaaaatch.. But at least the nail isn't as bad as I first thought.

So what happened after that? Since there's a good chance my nail is going to fall off :( Did it come back ok, and how long?

Yours will probably stay on - if the nail is dead it will go brittle and the new nail growing underneath will force it off.

Happened to me and took around 2 months for the old nail to fall off.

Really makes you appreciate the NHS when you literally cannot just go to the doctor in the US because they will charge you hundreds.

Omg thats awful, id probably wait and go to the doctors though rather than A&E, unless the pain is that unbareable, you do need to go see someone though 'cos if infection sets in and you don't do anything your buggered

Gah that's some sight... i'm surprised you were even slightly tempted to even leave it

I'm glad nothing like this has happened to my toes before... can't imagine how bad it would be!
