Shiny New PC on the cards? (What games will you get?)

There's certainly nothing wrong with getting 16GB. I was just saying, if that £50 could be mean an upgrade somehwere else (gpu, cpu, ssd, whatever) then I'd stick with 8GB.

If that £50 isn't going to be invested elsewhere, then go ahead and get 16GB. Can't hurt. Just don't expect it to have any beneficial effect in games.

PhotoShop will probably make good use of 16GB anyhow, so now that you mentioned that there's less reason to stick with 8GB.

ZBrush and PS will also be installed on the PC, maybe the 16Gb will come in handy for these apps? Also may try my hand at some fractal based image creation.
@Drollic, any chance of a link to the new cards you mention? Would really help as I'm still getting my head around all the new tech.
Back to games now :)
Had some great suggestion for new games so far, keep em coming peeps :)

Google AMD Polaris and Nvidia Pascal. Quite a bit of it is unconfirmed and speculation though.

I hate to be "that guy", but you might be wasting your money.

For games, there is no difference between 8gb and 16gb of system RAM (VRAM on GPUs is very different).

Oh gee, thanks for this link. I've been beating myself up for that past year for having bought a PC with only 8GB of RAM. It was also during a time RAM was more expensive than it usually is. Good to know it's going to be a long while before I upgrade.

Just read your build thread in which you stated "The build is still a few months off" I can also see you're aiming to spend around a grand.

Imo you'd be better off saving hard and not thinking about exact specs till you have the cash then simply post a thread along the lines of "Spec me a £1K gaming PC". Prices and tech change so much in such a short period of time. I'm also not a believer in waiting for the next best thing (GPU) as frequently they're a let down and overpriced to boot! Just go with what's available when you're ready :)

Whatever you do, do not bother with the standalone. Two years on it's still utterly broken.

Dayz I’ve been following since the beginning when it's original creator Dean hall was just modding the Arma II engine. The standalone will come good in the end and be a massive step up from the limited mod. The Enfusion engine is about to be releasedend of this month via stable or experimental branch. Dayz always played like a dog that was fantastic and exciting one minute and gave you a very special experience only to be let down and kick you in the nuts when you fell down stairs and died or a Zombie hit you through a wall. Hackers, bugs and performance all made the early SA a pain.

Roll onto the work that’s been in development like the New renderer, sound system and it should introduce a good leap from what has seen. Massive increases in performance look promising.

This forum has it's own thread for anyone interested on the SA. I just like the idea of it and watched enough on twitch and U-tube to know I’d like it. Hardcore survival bringing a new experience every time. Even in it's buggy state nothing touches it as all the clones of it have been poor.

I agree, will go with whats available come the day to hand over the cash, if there is still no firm info and dates for the new card ill get the best I can afford of the current range.
I probably will keep tinkering with my build thread though, its really helping me get up to speed on today's kit etc.
