Shocking service from high street store

That is quite shocking tbh.....

I was fortunate enough to have the opposite experience (I won't name despite being a positive experience, as it is a competitor) - I bought a 450D cheap from an online retailer, on the understanding that it was used - it had about 200 clicks on it and was absolutely immaculate throughout (every bit of packaging was as new, including all the cables in their bags etc). Saved 25% on even the cheapest online price at that time! :D

It thought I was lucky at the time - now I think of myself as even luckier, having read this story.....

Glad it's sorted now :)

Wow, thats appauling......and actually the second time in two weeks i've heard a similar story about the same place (although it was an ipod that had been clearly used that they tried to sell as brand new and my friend had to fight to get a refund on before taking his business elsewhere).

I'm very glad its all sorted out now but i would still consider not only complaining to the 'top bods' at Currys but also trading standards and as someone has already mentioned i'm sure Nikon wouldn't mind being informed either.

That would have been a DSR return. You did get lucky :)

That was my thought as well. Happy with that discount for the small amount of handling it had seen! :D Makes me think that it could be worth looking for likely outlets for DSR returns when wanting new kit :)

Ever seen the pallets of 'returned kitchen goods' etc? Usually job lots on eBay are like that. However, there is no guarantee that they work, that they are unused, or what the resale value actually is.

i bought a cannon 40d from currys last year and they tried to sell me the one they had on display at the full price. I said i wanted a new camera but would be interested in second hand xdisplay if the gave me a suitable discount ie 20-30% off with full guarentee. They would not give any discount and insisted it was still new. So i rang around & went elsewhere and got a fully sealed boxed one (new) from pc world. At the time the 40d was being replaced by the 50d so the price was ok £760 with 17-85 kit lens.
