I passed my test earlier this year and haven't driven since. (Can't afford car/insurance/have no need for it).

I want to get insured on my mum's car for the month that I am back in December. Completely seperate policy to my mums....is this possible?

Where would be the best place to look to get it the cheapest?

Will a short-term policy like this still build up a no-claims?

Thanks.

Just ask your Mum to put you on her insurance and pay her the difference. It'll be much cheaper than getting your own, short term policy.

Google'd "1 month car insurance" and came up with this:

It won't allow you to run NCB as they are measured annually.

No doubt it will be rather expensive. Run a quote through and let us know.

Ecar only insure >25 year olds on the temporarily (up to 30 days) policies, but their pay as you go monthly ones are good (was with them a while back) and they do let you collect NCB on the pay monthly policies (they know when you have been with them for a year)

My girlfriend had issues with this earlier this year.

A car can have only one policy attached to it. Meaning you wouldn't be able to get your own policy and would infact ahve to be named on your mums.

Could cause issues depending on the insurance company...e.g. some are for over xx years ncb only or of certain age.

So day insure is illegal?
