Just under two weeks, but that's only because I bought a new motor just under two weeks ago. Think the shortest before that was a Fiat 127 SuperSport that I had for a month or so.

Haha never thought I'd meet another person who had a 127! I had a metallic green 127 sport 1050cc one for a while. A friend/flatmates brother gave it to us to share. My flatmate crashed it into a bollard and the gearbox linkage broke, he was a trainee mechanic and fixed it with a bobbypin.. After this we lost 4th gear and 1st was a pain to get into, but 2nd and 3rd you just placed the grear stick where you thought it should go and it kinda rested in place rather than slotted into. Lmao!

2 months on my last MX5. Nice car, very low mileage. Unfortunately a 93 year old biddy decided to try to reverse park THROUGH the side of my MX5. Instant write off.
The worst of it was that as she was 93, it's a bit hard to give someone of that age a hard time. In the end, I drove her home in our other car so she wouldn't have to call a taxi.

Excluding the above, probably my E30 325i touring. Bodywork was immaculate, but the engine made me wonder if a previous owner had docked 100k from the mileage, as it seemed to have a never ending list of new issues cropping up with it. Lasted just under a year before I'd had enough.

Just over 3 months. I went through 4 new cars in 24 months. 12 months, 6 months, 3 months and current car.

Mustang, Focus RS, Mondeo ST Line X, Mustang.

First Mustang I fell out with after vandalism and storm damage. Wasn’t the same car I loved on collection day. Hated the Focus. Too harsh, too thirsty (for a focus as it was worse than the Mustang on a run) and just didn’t like the power delivery. Loved the mondeo as a waft along car and was perfect for family. Ford offered a good deal on another Mustang clearing their stock and we bought the wife an A6 Avant for family duty to I could have a fun car again.

All cars were brand new. I took losses on them all and don’t regret it at all. Got to try these things.

Got my info down for a Ranger Raptor. Prob keep the Mustang another 18 months. I like changing car and don’t believe any car is a keeper.

hmm not sure if this counts, my buddy just put a clutch and 4 new tyres on a swift 1.3, he was getting battery drain and used it as an excuse to scrap it and buy a new car, I offered him scrap money for it, parked it on my drive and poked around only to find whoever done the clutch, failed to tighten one of the ground wires under the battery tray. (this was of course after I put a 2nd hand alternator on it to still get same symptoms)

car ran great after that, gave it to my mother after about 2 weeks.

Does owning a car for half the time you waited for it to be delivered count?
I waited about 12 weeks for a C max, yeah I know, I have no idea what was going through my head either.
After 4 weeks I hated it, by 6 weeks I had swapped it out at work for another car that was almost end of lease and ordered another mondeo (fleet was limited to ford as we got around 25% rebate back on leases)

Probably about 2-3 weeks. Was an old Ford Ka I got really cheap off a mate but it turned out worse than I thought so sold it on for what I bought for as soon as the log book came through.

Wow - I've had rental cars longer than most of you lot keep cars haha! I had a rental Insignia earlier in the year for 3 months while my daily was being repaired (between loosing the car, and then ending up having to remove the hybrid battery it required a long wait for several things!)

Shortest car ownership was a Lexus IS200 years ago, just never fully got on with it and the fuel economy vs performance was terrible - I had that for 9 months.

Vauxhall Senator 3L 24v, owned 12 hours
Purchased it on a Friday night & parked it outside the house, 9am the next morning someone drove into it & wrote it off.
I'd driven it a grand total of 11 miles

Other than that, I had a Triumph Sprite 16v which I owned 2 weeks, when someone offered me £1000 more than I'd paid for it so let it go & bought a Mk2 Mexico instead.

10 days, some 90s Ford Escort can’t remember the model. Needed a car for a couple of things (whilst mine was in the garage) and it come up through a friend. Did what I needed it for and sold it on for pretty much the same price if memory serves.

19mpg. That's similar to what I got on average from the 750i I ran for 3 years so I have no concerns. These old N62TUs aren't very efficient. I averaged 25mpg from my Jaguar XJ 5.0 with the same usage.
It's the town driving that really brings it down. THey can be relatively OK (25 to 30mpg) at motorway speeds but round town.... lucky to see 15mpg.
I do have quite a heavy right foot though.

how old do you tend to buy your cars and how long do you keep them for?

my car gets around 22mpg so that's not that bad for a 650i. i was thinking of going for a 6 series next.

4 weeks for my Vauxhall Vectra B. Bought it with my mind elsewhere (brother seriously ill in hospital following a car accident) and regretted it instantly.
Sold it as soon as I could losing a third of the purchase price to do so.

~1 month... Porsche 911 GT3 (991.2)

Got it before my 720S... did 3 track days & 3,500 miles in that time... great car and handled the load well... but after I got the 720S, I didn't find myself enjoying it as much & wanted a more focused track toy & a more agreeable daily drive... so swapped it out for an M4 CP & Radical SR3, while pocketing the change... was a worthwhile change & at least I owned one of the cars I've wanted for many years, even if it was for such a short time.
