on sat evening about 5 oclock my car alarm went potty, nothing unusual about that as the cat often jumps on it and sets it off, however i re set it and it went off again 5 min later, at this point i thought id go and take a peek, only to discover two chavs wrenching off the aerial!! lots of shouting and i set off after the car park with the intention of giving them a proper malleting, however i got half was across it and was smacked dead center in the forhead with my own car aerial...... the toe rags were firing them in what looked to be a home made cross bow. needless to say i was startled and it hurt like hell, more shouting followed and the gits ran off, after a min or so the neighbours all rolled out to see what was happening, and after a quick check of the car park we discoverd the little gits had pinched all the detatchable aerials from the cars, not only that but to get the aerial off my neighbours car they had stood on the bonnet / windscreen to wrench it off and had cracked the screen. the plod were duly called but didnt bother to turn up despite the fact that i had been shot in the head with a home made cross bow and a dozen cars had been vandalised. you can imagine how miffed we all were, several hundred pounds of damage and lumpy head and the plod didnt want to know.....SO one of my neighbours decided to find these little scroates and teach them a lesson armed with a pretty mean paintball gun several of them piled into his motor and went looking.
unfortunatly they didnt find them, despite following a trail of damaged cars and aerials lying about the place. but this is the killer..... about twenty minuets later they got pulled over by the plod, boxed in by three cars and the car got searched, as you can imagine there arnt a lot of excuses to have a loaded paintball gun on the front seat of your car on a sat evening, however it transpired the reason for them all getting pulled over was that two young lads had been assulted buy a group of men in a car.....hmmmm and the plod had decended en mass to find the alleged attackers.... wtf???

the end result a caution for the driver and the paintball gun was confescated, the chavs " attackers " havent been found and the plod still dont want to know about the damaged cars.

the plods oficial responce...." thats what youve got insurance for "

Great isn't it.

The plod can't touch these young vandals, and everyone knows it. Thats why they'll keep on doing it.

Shame the guys didn't catch them before the police stopped them.

If they do get caught they will only be taken on an exotic holiday on a team and respect building exercise.

depends on who catches them, ive just got a quote for the damage done to my otherhalfs car, £380 + vat for an aerial, mount, roof repair, paint, parts and labor

on the other hand, a bag of quick lime, longhandled shovell and a mate with a farm..... priceless!!

The local Police up here have started nicking kids who damage vehicles and taking their DNA. That's what I call preparing for the future! Even did some giant poster campaigns. Whether they follow through or notis a different matter, but I've noticed a lot fewer wing mirrors hanging off in the area (cue me going home to find mine hanging off  ).

Thats mad, i see very little difference between that and shooting people with a low powered air rifle.
Neither are gonna do you much damage if they hit a boney part of the body but could do you some serious damage if they caught you somewhere like the eye.

What a joke

The UK is paradise for people like this. They do what they like and get away with it while the law abiding public pick up the bill.

I wouldn't say the police are scum, thats a bit harsh. To be honest, on a saturday night they might be a bit preoccupied by people getting drunk and behaving like louts. However, this should have been classed as an assault as well as criminal damage, am surprised by the response you got. make an official complaint (leave out the vigilante paintball action tho), did you manage to get the officer's number?

no but i know there desk seargent (old mate) to be honest its this sort of responce that gives the fuzz a bad name i appreciate there bussy but if i for instance shot the guy back ( a vast selection of weponry all legaly owned and licenced at my disposal) or even Threatened to I would be up before the court thismorning... I know im not the only one who is in this position but it is off that the law protects the villan and not the victim

Thats not quite correct. A more correct statement would be "The law goes after the easy arrest/conviction".

Remember the cops are all participating in a huge numbers game nowadays - as many arrests leading to conviction as possible, and don't bother if you're unlikely to charge the criminal.

Should have phoned the police saying you have been shot at by someone with a firearm, they would have come then!

dont take this the wrong way, and i feel for you (hate vandalism) but that read as pretty funny :D

(Sorry again!)

Time to buy yourself a really mean dog! Even a chav will cr*p himself at the site of a chunky pit bull, plus you will get the satisfaction of hearing them cry when they get bit :D

If there on your land they cant even have the dog destroyed. :D

As for the comments about Police not doing anything, the problem is the Law not the Police. Their hands are tied as they know full well that your story is probably accurate but without proof they cannot do anything & even with proof the law would be totally in-effective at getting a decent punishment. Only thing that will chnage the laws is public attitude and pressure on the government, especially around election time...

That is very shocking the way the police have handled that. Have you not thought of putting in a complaint?

The coppers round here are really good with even the smallest of things, for example a group of lads snapped off the wing mirror of my locals landlords saab.

Needless to say the police have followed it all the way through and given each of the 100hours of community service! This wasnt just due to this incident but they are known to go round vandalising!

What a result!

I will show my dad (who is pretty respected within the police force, 30 year service) and see what he thinks should be done, as that is unbelievable!!

First thought that came into my head too - what if that aerial had pierced your eyeball? Ouch.

thats ok i can kind of see the comedy value, however the quotes ive been getting for my aerial and my other halfs ( got hers down to 280 and mine to 92.00 + vat) replaced has diminished my sence of humour, apparently the police have sent round a community support officer today to take statements, not for the damage, but for the alleged assult on the two kids. they wont tell us if its the same two kids who damaged all the cars but they say that the likley hood of it going any further are nill.... what a world eh

Reminds me of the time my Dad's next door neighbour got broken into. The cheeky scrotes nicked my Dad's bin to put the TV in and take it down the street.

One of the neighbours knocked on my Dad's door informing him what was going on (this was only around 5:30pm on a Sunday mind).

My Dad and his neighbour (armed with a baseball bat) went out looking for these guys. They saw them and the guys ran, leaving the bin with the TV in behind.

The police came after having been informed of the situation and the first thing the policeman said was "What are you doing with that baseball bat?"

It really is comical

Well, the bit where you got hit square in the forehead is rather amusing (i'm sorry for finding that amusing). But jesus, what a state of play :(.. I'm jumping on a bandwagon but wtf are the police on about in this instance?. For one you were attacked with a projectile (section 5 of the firearms act anyone??), and 2 the have caused criminal damage.
