I paid £90-something for our bedroom fan. It is however nice and quiet, remote controlled, 32 speed settings, has a timer setting (for on and off) and sleep setting that gradually lowers the speed over time etc.

I laughed at first, but the how gradual they are is very nice for use with the sleep setting as there's no sudden change between them.

I know a few people who have air conditioning in their homes in the UK and I just find it baffling and overkill.
We rarely have hot enough weather to warrant air conditioning, and even when we do it does not sustain for a long enough period of time.
