Should Roald Dahl be given a posthumous knighthood?

I'll remember that next time you become worthy of something.

Why ask a question if you only want to hear the answer that you think is correct? A forum is a place where people discuss their usually opposing views and if everybody agreed about everything then the world would be quite a boring place.

He doesn't need to be given a knighthood, people will remember him for his exceptional works, not being given an OBE.

I have no qualms with you expressing your opinion. But you said nothing to support your answer.

no dead person should be given a knighthood. then we'd have to knight far too many people. and anyway, he's not worthy of a knighthood in my book.

Your above post which I've quoted is meaningless to this thread seeing as you have just quoted my follow up to my first post.

My reply was in context to your first post, not your second, hence "I have no qualms with you expressing your opinion. But you said nothing to support your answer."

Alright kids.

No, I don't think we should hand out Knighthoods to people that have passed away, we give far too many out as it is.

I don't really see the point.. he's very popular as it is.. although I guess it would honour his family and make them feel all warm and fuzzy.. ok I'll allow it :)

No one NEEDS a knighthood then do they? Why should our top musicians, actors, business leaders and so on get knighthoods when their fame and money is reward enough?

his contribution is hardly knighthood material.

By what standard? By some ideal standard, possibly not; by the actual standard, it definitely is.

LOL, Ziggy. You just answered your own question with another question! :p

I don't think knighthoods should just be chucked around to every Tom, Dick and Roald anyway.

Half the English sporting teams have honors from the queen for no other reason than they're English.

I'm sure that had England won two 6 nations Grand Slams within 4 years then they'd all be knighted by now.
