Should she lie on her CV?

My girlfriend has gone back to Portsmouth to visit her family and get a job until late September. So far she has found nothing. As in, literally no jobs around which is hardly a surprise.

Anyways, Asda said they may have something but they only recruit permanent staff so not sure they would be so keen to hire her knowing she was leaving in September.

So should she lie and not mention anything about the fact she is starting her 3rd year in September and leave in September saying she has 'found another job' or risk it, come clean and say she will have to leave after a few months?

She is desperate for the money to pay for a deposit but lying is lying.

I suggested saying she left University - so she could get away with mentioning it is she says anything by accident - and just chat about how she's taking a gap year/changing course.

Yes, tell a fib. Honesty will only screw her over at the moment. It's not the crime of the century to simple say "I will work on a permanent basis." then just up sticks come September. Thousands of students have to do this everytime they come home otherwise they'd never make ends meet. If they ask, she can tell them she's thinking of having a year-out or something. Trust me, your third year is not the year you want to be scurrying about for money on top of everything else.

Its only really a white lie if that, she should just say she'll work permanently and get the job, a win is a win lol just only she knows it will be permanently until September..then it just bending the truth lol

Portsmouth rules lol

Never lie. The truth is that she is a student looking for a summer job. Not a problem with that but it sounds like she's finding just how hard it is to find any job at the moment hence the employers have a large selection of candidates (most looking for several years work).

The problem you have is that she will be quizzed about the time leading up to applying. Then if they do a background check they may find she is a student - instant dismissal - or they may find there's something odd when sorting out her pay at which point she may appear as a student.

If you read any entrepreneur books you'll note that they do none of the above and just go for it. Work hard and people won't care (can may turn a blind eye if found out).

The OP said that they're not looking for students for summer jobs.

Eh?. Which database (that asda have access to) is this then?. The chances of them finding out that she is a student by any means other than her telling them are virtually zero, and even if they did, she'll have been taken on as full time staff, she can't simply be sacked for 'not mentioning' that she might want to go to uni in September.

Beh!, Lie!.

Beh!, Lie!.

Students get taxed differently.

how is it lying if she just doesn't tell them? the tax code thing isn't something that automatically happens if you're a student, it's something you have to request if you'll earn under the threshold within that tax year, lots of student targetted jobs might do this for you.

There will be no comeback to her excluding that she'll be leaving in sept from her cv
