*** Show us your Dogs ***

It must have been in another thread, but I seem to recall posting how one of the pups from the last litter looked, even at 9 to 12 weeks as if he'd be a handful, and I had decided it was best to keep it, and so it proved.

A fighter through and through and I also recall saying it would only be a matter of time before he chose the wrong dog of ours to show off his excess of testosterone to. Today was that day and after having had what he thought was his solid and immovable 90 pounds frame carried a good fifty yards by the scruff of its neck through the woods before being put down with a look of disgust, he seems to have been taught a much needed lesson. Little **** :) Not sure he's quite given up his pack leader attempts yet either <LOL>

Naughty doggy!! Looks painful to me though but I'm a total wuss!

Well I hope he learned his lesson! Vet bill for you though - and the anti-biotics aint cheap.

He won't need the vet for that, if he'd done it in a couple of months time I'd be worried about it getting fly blown, but I'll just keep it clean and keep an eye on it, should be sorted in a few weeks unless he starts scrapping again. It's not very deep and he doesn't seem to be interested in interfering with it.

My younger cockapoo is always covered in scabs - even has the nickname of Scabby lol! Chasing bunnies she's always darting through prickly hedges and under barbwire fences without the brains to duck or slow down... Total fool that dog at times. Has been quieter recently though since she was mated - maybe there are puppies in there this time.

Someone I know had their bitch scanned and was told it'd be having four or at the most five pups. She live birthed 9, and one DOA. Ultrasound is pretty naff for things that wiggle about.
Will get her scanned sometime middle of next month, my daughter works in a Vetinary practice so it'll be free. I'm not at all confident there will be anything based on previous attempts (this is the 3rd mating, two of the previous she was pregnant but she didn't carry). I've agreed to only keeping one bitch but I suspect my daughter has other ideas :-)

Well I hope she has puppies this time and then you can put loads of adorable puppy pictures on here!

These aren't mine but a lady has just had a litter of mini sausages on Facebook. I'd love Lilith to have had a litter and then I would have kept one but she isn't the right temperament so it wouldn't be the right thing to do. I think I'm far too neurotic anyway and probably would have had an additional breakdown with the stress!! Lol!

Thanks I'm keeping fingers crossed!

Lovely puppies and an amazing variation in coats :-) Hazel is definitely up for being a mommy so if she has a litter it will keep her happy too. I definitely would not have considered this though if I was having to look after them all on my own, my other daughter will be home from Uni should Hazel welp on schedule so I'm hoping I can mostly stay out of the way lol.

Lilith (unique name!) looks well relaxed :-)

Has anyone experienced phantom pregnancies with their dogs please? Lilith is on her 2nd season (1 year and 8 months) and is showing all the signs so wondering if there is anything I can do to help her and make it less painful and stressful for her and selfishly, me!

Yes, Hazel has had several. It should resolve within 3 weeks or so but if she starts to lactate there are hormonal treatments the vet can give which will stop it.

Scanned Hazel yesterday morning and sadly once again she is without puppies :-( Can't believe it looking at her but the ultrasound shows nothing. I don't think we will try again with her as it's traumatic for everyone and after 3 good attempts to get a litter it's clear something isn't right. Took a photo this morning of her underside (shaved for the ultrasound scan), it doesn't show her swollen abdomen but nipple development is obvious.

Awwww, I'm sorry to hear that. Poor Hazel and so gutting for you too. :(

Seems like it might be a few weeks then, of sleepless nights for me until it passes.

I nearly crapped myself several times with fright in my bed last night, when she insisted on bringing all her squeaky balls with her, and randomly squeaking them throughout the night.
