I also have tesco near work with 99. Use it now and again but prefer Shell fuel stations tbh. Sounds stupid but they are just a bit nicer.

They are nice. Going to a Shell station is somehow a nice experience. They are neat and tidy, the shops are nice and premium, the people are polite, and quite often you will see something nice at one of the pumps.

At one Shell station I went to a year or so ago there were even attendants who offered to fill up the car for me while I look around the shop!

They aren't there anymore though... Presumably they decided it was a waste of money. Shame.

Was reading a thread earlier where someone said that stuff can cause hesitation.

I think in some places Momentum has more ethanol than VPower or Ultimate. I don't know how much truth there is to that mind you, I heard it a while ago. May even have been on here.

The S65 (like the M5 V10 S85) use the spark plugs and ionisation of the cylinder to detect octane and set ignition timing. There are no knock sensors

Quite advanced really and one of the only engines that responds to octane (and type of octane )

I find them all to be much of muchness in terms of "experience". Where i am Sainsbury's is the best experience..if you want to ask why.

1 - free air and water and away from the pumps
2 - massive bays
3 - away from main road when exiting not pulling out to a busy road
4 - 12 pumps (although they only ever have 8 open most of the time).
5 - self service available at the pumps so no need to queue to pay

Shell

1 - only 8 pumps but 4 with V-power, and 2 are on the wrong side
2 - no self service
3 - tiny bays

The Sainsbury's one is actually much better kept in every way.

Can you edit out the swearie please, some of the mods will be raving knowing they can get the ban hammer out on me again :p

No, the drive there. I don't work out mpg at track days since I did that in the Evo and a part of me died inside.

As was gonna say, damn that is good.
To show you how great the S54 is, on my trips to Donnington when I was behaving, the mpg was 34-36mpg, which again for 15yr old engine, 100k+ miles is really good but of course taking weight from the car helped a lot. It won't be quite as good now though due to the final ratio change in the differential so I expect it to drop to around 30-32mpg, but the acceleration difference is well worth it.

I worked out 15mpg on track at Brands, but it was very, very wet so was short shifting at about 7.5k and not always full throttle.

That is good for a 6 pot though!

I averaged 38MPG at Santa Pod in the Octavia, from when I lined up the first time, until I finished my last pass. :D
