Excellent Housey. when did you go? Was it a track day or Touristenfahrten? I've been three times myself and I'm planning to go again in June.

June last year I think, going again in June this year, all booked. It was an incredibly quiet Tourist weekend and on my third or fourth lap I had the track to myself, I think we passed 2 cars and that was it. We fell lucky, perhaps because the Truck Racing was on at the new Ring and there were massive crowds for that. The picture above I am following my friend in his McLaren. It was his 3rd visit to the Ring, my first lap and he had left half a minute before me, this is where I caught him, much to his and my surprise and proceeded to pass him and add another 20 seconds. My 2nd lap was around 9 mins, my final lap in the mid 8's so somehow I managed to find a pace but was miles off what I could have been if I knew where it went.

I was doing 9's comfortably in my Evo 9. Hope to get sub 9 in my DC5 when I visit in April - can't wait!

I only did 7 laps over the weekend and didn't expect to get into the 8's as I was driving well within myself, not wanting to risk anything. Plenty of places to carry much more speed, less braking etc., but pace at that place comes from knowledge and flow. Have that and get the flow right and most performance cars (BTG) should be able to get into low 9's and 8's. I think a DC5 will be epic there, superb car for the job. My R8 did well, but it's heavy. However the brakes were mesmerising and never once sniffed a fade. Just WHAM, stop each and every time, amazing ceramics but did cook the fluid which was coming out the bleed valve so I called it a weekend at that point.
