I sent my E4c's back to Shure for repair and I've just received a brand new set of SE310's, which I believe are a step down from my E4c's.

Would you keep them, or ask for the equivalent of the E4c's, the SE420's I think.

I might even offer them a few quid if my initial request is refused.

I just did a quick google and the RRP of the SE310s is actually higher than that of the E4Cs? No harm in asking for the SE420s I guess. What's the difference between the E*C range and this SE* range by the way? Have the former been discontinued? :)

The SE range has replaced the E range. AFAIK the numbers are the same so a SE420 is the same as an e4c...

What I would add is that, IMHO, Sure have some of the best customer service I've ever seen so a phone call to them should solve it.

I've read that they're not like for like and there are five in the new set, so the SE310's could be in between the old E3c's and E4c's, but I'm not sure.

Has anyone used the SE310's, if so, what did you think of them?

Hmm. I'm about to send back a pair myself - the cable broke near the earpiece. I wonder whether I'm going to be getting the SE310s back too...

what docs do you need to be able to send them back for repair?

I gave them a call, got an RMA number and that was it. I think they go by the printed number on the phones and work it 2 years from there, no receipt needed, now that's customer service alright.:)

You should ideally have proof of purchase, but if not, the plug has a date stamp on it with week and year of production so it should be okay for warranty purposes.

Off topic, the cable on my E2Cs has split half way down and one ear piece no longer works. Is there any chance they would repair them/replace them, or would it be deemed my fault?

Just had a reply from Shure:

"The direct replacement for the E4C is the SE310.Both these are single driver units. The SE420 is a dual driver unit and therefore classed as a superior product. The SE530 a tripple driver unit...

I appreciate it is very misleading and we wish the guys in the States has thought this through properly as we are inundated with this issue every day.

I think you'll find the SE310's sound better than the E4C's.I have been using SE310's for the last 6 months and have not had one problem with them. With the E4C's, I was replacing them every 6-8 weeks due to loss of sound in one of the channels.

I hope this answers your query.

Regards"

Looks like I've come out of this pretty damn well, but am now toying with the idea of selling these on and upgrading.

That's very honest of them! I had to replace my e4cs twice due to a channel dying - at the time they told me if it happened again they'd consider upgrading me to the e5c! It's not happened with my newer pair though - which I'm not sure to be pleased or saddened about - despite my sister running a trolley over them :(

interesting! a while ago a sat on my e3c's and broke 1 of the plastic earphones..... do you think they would replace under warranty? :o

it was a little while ago...might be more then 2 years not 100% sure :(

It's only up to 2 years mate and as you broke them, I doubt that would qualify anyway.

I've just ordered some E500PTH's for £172, which should be here in 10 days or so from over the pond, so it's onwards and upwards.:)

What the devil is going on here. I never made that post! I don't even know what an E2Cs is let alone actually own one?
