Shuttle audio

Gonna repost this in here as no answers in the SFF forum.
Dont seem to have 5.1 out of my SN68PTG5 on my DVDs on windows 7
Is it a driver issue? using the stock drivers that come with windows 7, can do the speaker config test and all channels work fine so have the 3 connectors in the right holes (colour coded anyway)
Really want to get dolby digital then can do the next step of putting sky HD through it with the optical upgrade you can buy.

I am wondering if I took my soundcard (X-Fi) out of my main rig, would it work then.

Can't see it being driver issue, test would not work otherwise I feel. What software are you using to play DVD's?

VLC player and have tried media player aswell.
Giving me the hump really as I basically swapped away my NC10 (as it had no HDMI out so no 1080p on new TV(power surge blew my old 720p)) for the shuttle so I could kill two birds with one stone 1080p and 5.1 surround using my Megaworks THX550s which where sat idle.
But still not got there, dont really want to buy a new set of speakers as the current ones are more than enough for what I need.
