Want to know the worst thing?

My mum uses text speak in her text messages. It drives me nuts trying to decypher her cryptic messages.

Mine as well, Dad too. I bet they think they're cool .

Whenever I read something in 'text speak' I can't help but picture that person saying those words but with special needs.

My parents use it, my daughter uses it, but none of my friends or anyone else I know of approximately my age does.

I agree and have had the same discussion with my wife. Neither of us use text speak at all.

OPs post gave me a headache...i just couldnt be bothered to even try to decipher it although ALC did a fine job of deciphering it in his post.

IF any of my mates or family text message me like that, i ignore until they text properly...usually works because i then get a text a few mins later with something mo0re legible to read and understand.

I've noticed this as well, very few people I know write in text speak. Even hardcore chavs don't write like that on their facebooks.

People still might use u for you and a 2moro for tomorrow, but apart from that its all normal english

It drives me nuts as well, for some god-forsaken reason I've been put in charge of the companies Facebook page (though I don't actively use Facebook ) and about 90% of people send in e-mails written in txt spk. I've had to reply several times asking them to clarify (intentionally using polysyllabic in an effort to confuse them ) as I just couldn't figure out what they were asking. Of course, one woman complained about me because I "dizzd" her English

my boyfriend does it all the time.... at first it annoyed me bu ti finally got used to it, and i believe that if i keep up texting with full english words he might subconciously pick up on it and copy =D
well i hope, the only problem is, i cant spell so its a bit difficult haha
