When trying to close the passenger side window there was crunching noise and then the window fell into the door. What the best cource of action to get it fixed? I've tried dismantling the door pannel myself but can't find all the catch so need to call in some proffessionals. Is it best to take dealler or call in a company like auto glass.

The cars a Skoda Fabia (no jokes 5 years old and no problems before).

Find a Skoda forum and ask there.

I know some Skoda's share similarities with VW cars. The Mk4 Golf is known to have the same problem.

Yup, I believe it's also a problem with the Mk5 as well. What happens is that the window can come out of the clips which hold it in place and consequently it falls into the door. It's a known problem and as far as I know it's a simple fix. You could take it to an independent specialist who shouldn't charge too much. Avoid the main dealers unless they are going to do the work for free, which is something I'd look into since it's a common known problem.

pfft window regulators are a known problem just have a look at this months car mechanics monthly they specificaly mention window regulators as a common issue on their fabia buying guide, :) HTH

if its a regulator you need which i doubt try gsf (cheapest for bits) pop the door ar off and check the runners first though, our cordoba had exactley the same problem

I had the exact problem on my Rover 214 (bubble shape) The electric passanger window fall at the frame and at a slight angle, then as i tried to close it, it fell completely out the frame and into the door. I took mine to a local garage which i use a lot, and for £15 labour (cash) they took the door panel off, got the window out and put it back into the frame,

I think as someone put on here before, its a frame issue or some thing. But apparently its a known problem on the Rover's and common when the windows freeze in the winter.

Either way i really doubt it's a big problem, should be just a quick job at a decent local garage.

Look harder then :P

You usually have to pop off a few covers on the handles. Check all the way around the outside of the door pad and check inside any pods. :)

If it has windy windows you'll strugle though!
