I'd like a sigma 1.4 converter to go with my sigma 70-300 APO DG macro, does this work with it? i've checked compatibility but it doesn't show that lens

anyone here use that combo. do i have to make sure it's the APO converter, as opposed to maybe older versions?

also do you loose too much quality using a 2x?

I have a 2x TC and I beleive any lens will work with it, potentially.

I coudl be wrong of course, but i think you may just lose autofocus, and a stop or so light and some sharpness

If you can wait till later, i will take a pic with and without the TC today while I am out anbd let you decide yourself :)

Ok i have taken a quick pic in my kitchen for you.

I am sure you coudl get better results in the correct situation, but I think this will do for this "test"

Please note, my lens is an old sigma II 4-5.6 that has the aperature ring on the lens itself. and I lose autofocus with the TC

both shots were from the same place, which was abotu 7 foot away from the subject and both with the lens at 300mm.

Neither picture has had anything done in PP other than resizing for the posting

NO TC

I hope that helps, I am sure the light could be sorted with a simple levels adjustement :P

thanks for that :)
it'd mainly be used up santa pod, so light would be a lot better anyway, but then i guess 99% of anyones use with a 2x tc would be out side
