The Nikkor is probably better.

Also worth considering the Tamron 17-50 2.8.

Hmmm... I am swinging for the 18-70 nikkor and 70-300 now!!! I think I could bargain a good deal if I buy em together - have heard the nikon lens is a bit better with colours but the sigma is a little bit sharper...

I got this lens last week and im loving it! The build is soo good!

Its extremely weighty compared the kit lens and the tamron 70-300mm i have.

Do a google of reviews, when i was going to buy it i found a forum with people sharing shots which are all very sharp!

its cheaper, just 1mm less wide, and the 2.8 is only on 17mm anyways (dont think I'd ever use 17mm on 2.8).

How much is the uk price of the 18-70?

UK online price is around £190. More like £280 on the high street.

Got mine under the virtual hammer for £149 all in (as new condition). £150 brand new is excellent!
