Silly Mistake - loss of pics

had the opportunity of taking some shots of a barn owl last wednesday. got them home and uploaded them to my laptop.

fast forward to today, when i decide its a good idea to put xp pro onto the laptop, instead of home that it came with. i put the owl photos into a folder on my desktop ready to write to cd, just as i get distracted to do something else, i come back to the laptop and stick in the xp cd and reboot

realising my mistake half way through installing fresh copy of pro :eek:

now the thing is, i formatted the mem card :eek:

using the camera after i uploaded the pics.

is there anyway that any knows of to retrieve the pics either from the laptop or the memory card?

any help would be much appreiated.

right, this is now running on the mem card

so far so good, 20% of the way through scanning my 2gb compact flash card its found 141 files

as long as you havent wrote over that block then it will / should be retreavable.

recovered 508 files from the card, some going back 3 or 4 formats ago, none of them were my owl shots

im running it on my laptop hdd at the mo, although its taking ages tbh

hasnt found any owl shots as yet

EDIT - got a horrible feeling i have written over the owl shots with what i took yesterday

Speaking of recovery, I had a memory card which I performed a recovery on because I deleted images I hadent uploaded, and when I did there was files which wernt mine, logo's, photographs and an entire website belonging to the retailer who sold me the CF card, just goes to prove that even when some thing is deleted its still not gone.
