Silverstone 2012

Just got back home, and I'm shattered. A great weekend overall, but it would have been so much better without the weather and all of the mud. Normally they let you park next to where you pitch your tent, but because of the conditions we were told to put the car in a field (I hesitate to call it a car park) some distance away from the camping areas.

On Friday we watched the action from Club, Becketts on Saturday and Farm Curve on Sunday. The post-race entertainment on the main stage was good fun too, with the BBC F1 Forum on stage, Eddie J abusing a set of drums with his band the Robbers, interviews with McLaren, Red Bull and Force India drivers, plus bands Alistair Griffin and Blondied.

Anyone sat at Farm Curve? Would like to know where abouts in the stand I am with Q 250.

Hoping for nearer to the pits and high up!

You know where it is now :p, but I was at the other end of the stand in P6.

Club grandstand is great. It was my favourite spot for GA back on the old layout, and its pretty good now for the new layout, all be it a lot more expensive :p

Yeah I'm glad we got to see the after party ( or some of it at least ) on the main stage. Infact I need to watch the BBC F1 Forum from the start because I was watching the tennis. Managed to catch EJ on the drums and Jenson on stage though :D

Didn't think much of the after race party really. Whilst it was good seeing McLaren and Force India - EJ's band was a bit disappointing and a Blondie tribute band as the headline act? The idea of having a tribute band as the headline act is baffling!

I guess I just expected a bit more with the top quality entertainment that they had on Woodlands Campsite. The campsite performances were much better!

There was clearly something up with the timings on the final entertainment because it was all earlier than the schedule was. I agree about Blondied though, I thought they were just playing a couple of songs, then Red Bull were going to come on stage and they would do their full set later.

Instead we had to put up with nearly an hour of Blondied and while there were were a few people really into it, you could tell that as they carried on that people were getting fed up, as they just wanted to see the Drivers. They finally came on as it started to rain again at which point everyone was leaving, so Blondied were basically finished. I suppose at least they came back on to play as everyone was leaving and clearly weren't watching them.

This though, went someway to making up for this weekends woes:

lol just remembered the guy heckling whilst Jardine interviewed the Silverstone MD....

I think he was bitter about the queues at the toilets....

Got home yesterday, great weekend even the weather did not really matter, had to get towed out of campsite by a tractor but we survived in the mud :D only really got soaked on Saturday when we decided to watch qual from the uncovered Luffied complex stand, bad idea that was LOL the rain that arrived during the GP party was biblical and we had rivers running down the campsite :D

Good race and was so funny to see all the dayglo or tinfoil McLaren fans soon realise they were going nowhere and turn into Webber fans 10 laps from the end, sums up Silverstone fans in general really, support anyone but Ferrari :D
