Silverstone Fortress FT01 or FT02?

the front, top and bottom are all plastic. its far from THE best looking case on the market... buy a lian li and you'll know what i mean.

The FT01?? I have one sitting in front of me and I can only see one tiny bit of plastic on the top (the little tray) and none on the front or the bottom. Are you sure you're talking about the right case?

I've currently got a FT01 and will move to a FT02 next time I upgrade my system.

The main reasons behind this are as mentioned in the previous post, the difficulty if getting at the top and PSU fan filters for cleaning.

The FT01 is a great case, I've had mine about a year and been very happy with it but the superior cooling and ease of filter cleaning make the FT02 a no brainer IMO.

As this thread has been resurrected I'll just say I did change to the FT02 and have got to say it's by far the best case I've ever had and I've had dozens over the years.

I still think the ft02 at £220 is just not worth the premium over the raven 3 at around £107 if you can live with the ravens exterior you are basically going to get the same performance as well as a few extra neat touches.

Have to agree with C64 - biggest practical differance for most peoples builds, is right or left handed.
The FT02 does look like a £200 case - as the RV03 looks like a £100 case.

Both quality air cooling cases - But whats more important - looks or budget

The FT01 is a beautiful case, but it does have it's problems and it definitely struggles with highend graphics cards. The FT02 is almost as beautiful, but has much better cooling.

Yea but it should be £150-£170 not £220 The silver one is £170 ish.

I own an ft01 and I wouldn't recommend it unless you can get one on the cheap like I did paid £65 for mine of the mm for the reasons stated mainly bad design on the top fan filter I'd avoid. It doesn't struggle with high end graphics cards as far as I can see though the hdd cages are splittable and there's a 180mm front intake blowing over the gpus. It's just an outdated case now and I'd swap mine for a raven 3 anyday.

http://www.overclock.net/computer-cases/986547-silverstone-raven-rv03-user-review-lessons.html good raven 3 thread

Take a good look at the raven 3 before you click that buy on an ft02 @ £200+, raven 3 can be had for £107 I like the new place for the psu and hard drives round the back as well as many other innovative features I just think would be madness not to get one at £107 and have that extra £113 for something else.Don't get me wrong I love the ft02 and want one but couldn't justify £220 for one.

Am tempted to get a raven 3 myself at this price and the coolermaster HAF x isn't to be overlooked either for air cooling just comes down to whether you can live with the looks.
But at the end of the day who sits there admiring their case and if they do how much of a difference does it make to their life.

I agree the inability to easily remove the top fan filter in the FT01 was a very bad design decision and one of the reasons I moved to the FT02 so soon after buying the FT01.

The RV03 is a bargain compared to the FT02 as long as you like the look of it.

Personally I prefer the look of the FT02 and knowing I'll be using it for many years helped me justify the extra cost.

Those of you with the case what's your cpu/gpu temps idle and load? i can't stand the noise my Antec 902 makes with fans on high. :( (the dust filters are real lame to remove too....i guess FT02 ones can be removed within a few mins and cleaned?)

Fans on low are very quiet.
The loudest thing in mine is the GPU fan.
Dust filters are a peice of cake to clean, just pop the side pannel off and pull them out :D
TBH if I wasnt downsizing to mATX I'd never buy another case again.
