Silverstone Fortress FT02B-W Owners, Your thought's please!!!

This isn't really true, it only has one fan venting air yes, but the top of the case is perforated with holes to allow air out and since its based on a positive pressure system and heat rising, a huge amount of air gets out there :).

Indeed. I wish people would stop spreading fud about how this case won't perform with just 1 outake or with just a H50 or H70. As the poster above has said, it allows air to naturally rise out the top via the perforations, and the case promotes positive airflow. Lots of people on XS and Hardforums have tried rigging additional exhaust fans mounted in the top of the case and it has made no difference to temps. Also the guys who run HardOCP are using the Raven RV02 in their GTX 480 SLI setup which has the same cooling layout as the FT02. They have publicly said the cooling layout has meant their gpu fans don't work as hard as they receive fresh air from the bottom 180mm fan.

Simply the best case I have ever used, keeps everything unbelievably cool without the usual noise. I confirm that due to the positive pressure there is a substantial amount of air being pushed out of the top of this & my GTX480 has never been happier.

The price seems high, (TJ07 price almost), but once you add on the price of the AP181 fans (cost me around £40-£45) and the paint it doesn't seem so silly.

Red is my least favourite colour but it looks nice on this.

Thanks for the reply. Though other than the price, the only drawback with the Silverstone for me is the size. I guess I'm willing to sacrifice that due to the stellar performance, but if there's a case which is in the same league (or not a great deal behind) but smaller, I'd love to know what it is.

All new stock coming from the manufacturer has the AP fans. Whether OCUK' stock is such, only they know. Ask them do they have Revsion 1.4 of the case which has the AP fans. Also, AP fans are advertised on the outside of the box so it should be simple for them to tell. As for the red interior, Silverstone don't make it anymore. It was a once off limited edition.

On the back of the box where it shows the features, it says at the bottom underneath the picture of the case and above the website reviews about it having the AP fans. Knowing this I asked half a dozen places a couple of weeks ago if had the revised versions, but no dice.

Spose you'd have to wait until they run out of regular FT02/RV02 stock and order another lot before the AP versions arrive (nobody was sold out of the regular version of the FT02, only the WRI limited edition)

Annoying since the updated version shouldn't cost any more than the last, where as obviously buying now and replacing the fans will set you back another £40-50.

That's crazy..so they don't want your business. Morons. There is a place in germany who specialise selling cases and they have the ft02 with the ap181 fans and even advertise the fact.

I'll have to have a look for that.

Most of the places I asked did actually check their stock but only had the older version and had no ETA for the newer one. Presumably this is because they'd rather sell through the older stock first, as unless there was a £40 price difference I doubt people would opt for the non-AP version, given the choice of the two.

Just ordered the FT02 red interior from a competitor, delivery on thursday... gonna get a fan controller and some white lighting

how do I tell if it is the updated version? and if not, can you guys please link what I should be ordering to update it?

Anything else changed on v2 apart from the fans?

damn, excited now! sexy sexy sexy

I have gone back to a H50 cooling set up as the 9900 Max is kinda load @ 1500 RPM , also i have changed the top 120mm fan to a Silverstone AP121 one. Slightly hotter on load temps , and im gonna get another AP121 to make a push pull config to see if i can get the temps down more.

nice one! just ordered another 50 quids worth of accessories, so I could do without having to replace the fans too...

i'll try and stave off the excitement during the build and get some decent photos for u guys
