Silverstone Monster is here!

Depends on the size of the monitor.

I have a 22" monitor and it's exactly the height of my Antec P180 Mini.

This thing is almost half again as tall and deep and would dwarf the screen enormously but a much larger screen might be ok beside it.

Yeah price sucks if you're after a bargain.

£530 for a hideous case when a £80 decent looking one will do pretty much the same thing!

please, name this £80 case that will fit two quad and one triple radiators?
i would like to know of this mystical item so that i could suggest it as a cheap alternative.

enlighten me

I'm not speaking to the forum like anything, i'm speaking to those who actually are seriously considering buying this overpriced, ugly case that the Corsair makes look like a joke imo. And that amounts to about 2-3 people, not the forum.

And what i mean about being a nerd to want exclusivity, i mean this: To buy a case because it's less used than another one, pay £250 more for it and get a case no better in looks or design is ridiculous. If the case looked better or was better (£250 better, just no), you could argue a point to it. But to want it JUST because its rarer is silly.

If this case came in at £350, i'd still say it looks like a kids toy (it does) but i'd understand it exisitng (it is aluminium afterall). But at £500 here, silverstone deserve to sell none. And what are those side holes all about? Just mental case imo, not a classic at all, not like the TJ07.

you are posting on an enthusiast hardware forum
this is a fantastic case that fits a lot of hardware in. there are a few people who require the space that this case provides.
also, there are a few people who buy computer hardware because they like it.

we really dont need to drone on about the cost of the case. based on its own merits, it is a good case. the reason you think it is overpriced is because you have no requirement for a case like this.
saying the 800D i comparable to this case is simply laughable
the Level 10 cost more than this on release and is an awful abomination with nowhere near as much potential.
yet we sold loads of them and built a lot of £5k+ systems in it.

price is comparitive.

if you are buying a £400 SB setup with a GTX570 and using a H50 then this case is total overkill, a Haf 912+ at £60 would be the ideal candidate.

but someone buying GTX580 TriSLI/Gulftown/Classified etc, its a lot better suited
high end watercooling to go in something like this case will cost £150+ just for fittings, thats without pump/rads/blocks or anything else. so £500 would just be a blip on the shopping list.

im not trying to belittle the mass opinion, and say this is a cheap case, but there are enthusiasts who spend this kind of money who the case will appeal to.
they will sell well because of this.
obviously not in the same quantities as something like an Antec 900 but thats just comparing apples to oranges.

not many, which is why this case isnt made in great numbers,

which is why the price is what it is.
the build quality of the unit is superb, but due to its limited production quantity and lower demand it does push the price up.
as with any very high end product.

just look at the SR2 motherboard. it is very, very expensive, but that is because they dont make as many of them as something like a UD3R or P6X58D-E
supply and demand, its simple economics.

Am I going mad or is there nowhere at the back for the ports to poke through?

Also, can you offer a free pizza delivery with every purchase of this case? More people would buy it if there was free pizza.

Why not drop some hardware into one and take some photos RJK so we can all get some perspective on this case? Might encourage some of us to put our pitchforks away then.

How many have you sold?

While the pricing is, erm, extreme, to say the case is ugly is bizarre. Different people like different things, I for one, would much rather a case like this than one of those fugly NZXT things. I don't like most cases, I have a Silverstone Temjin TJ-09, in Silver, and it is a superb case.

You can be sure this one is built to last, and is a quality quality product.

That doesn't mean I think it's worth the money, especially with whats been said in the cases forum, but I would imagine that it would sell, its just that its a very niche market.

I don't get all the hatred.

There is a really simple solution for people who don't like the case and can't handle the price... Ignore it.
Since none of us own the case in question, I'm not sure how we're able to say it's not worth the money. I can guarantee that for some people, it will be worth the money and they will enjoy owning a quality case.

Hardware enthusiast forum : Case freaks need not apply?

If someone wanted to spend money on that case, it'd be fair play.

very nice interior but i just don't like the looks
space is very important but then imho so are looks and this case just doesn't do it for me
the price is not important to me (probably spent more over the years on cases)
i look for functionality and it has to be easy on the eye

This actually happened.

Haha :D

On a serious note - I own the FT02S 1.4, which cost £170. Finding it hard to see where the extra £350 is going, considering it's just more steel.

The FT02 also has one more 180mm AP181 than this too, which are quite expensive.

Then again, there is always a buyer. It's all relative :)
