Got my brother in law over here on holiday. He has a filthy forriner sim card in his Galaxy Zoom. I dropped his phone yesterday and broke it. I had an unopened iphone 5 lying here so I've given that to him but Apple being Apple use nano sims instead of micro sims. Being so far from home he's got no option of getting the sim changed.

Apparently sim cloning gadgets exist but also apparently this is illegal. Shall I just get a cheapo copier from ebay and go for it? Is this a prosecutable offence?

You can even cut it down with a pair of decent scissors or a sharp knife, I've done it quite a few times where I couldn't get a SIM quickly. Although of course it's a much higher risk when you can't just walk to the local Vodafone shop and get a new one if you do it wrong.

BTW it's not 'Apple being Apple' - most manufacturers use nano SIMs now.

Cool, I'll just clip it then, thanks.

I don't want to take sides in the apple loving / disliking thing but what I will say is that there was a reason I had a brand new, unopened iphone 5 in my bedside drawer and a well used Note 3 in my pocket ;)
