gtx460 768mb around same speed may be a touch faster,

For similar performance - the cheapest option in the 5830 that recently popped up for pre-order. Looking at this comparison it is actually a bit faster than the GTX 260.
That said, if you have the money - this 5850 is even faster and excellent value.
On the Nvidia side the GTX 460 768MB is probably the closest in terms of performance, but the even faster 1GB version is currently the same price - so the once to go for in the Nvidia side.
