Simple one: What Varient of *nix is easiest and best for a home server?

Latest one undergoing RAM testing before attempted OpenMediaFiler install last weekend. This one actually runs FreeNAS 7 (installed to a 40Gig IDE HDD) without problems at all

wow that is old kit

but if it works and is stable then thats the whole point.

Yup... it's actually more satisfying ( although frustrating as well ) to get this old gear running as a Server/torrent machine etc. Especially when you look at the bottom line (cash :cool:

) savings and a usable device with not too shabby performance thrown in
