Single month contents insurance?

Hey,

So I'm moving house next month but I'm moving from rented into ownership, the problem is my contents insurance is due to renew in a couple of days but after the move I will need both home and contents insurance so it will be a completely different policy.

I've had a look on MSE and there is a few that suggest specialist insurance but that tends to be aimed at unoccupied houses or people with convictions or other issues.

My current plan is to just take contents insurance and cancel but a cancellation fee of around £35 on a £60 policy seems ridiculous.

Any advice would be welcome, cheers all.

Try your new provider, some will cover both locations in the interim.

Failing that, find an insurer without a cancellation fee (I did a similar thing with car insurance when still having my old car after buying my new one). Directline & churchill were ones I think didn't have cancellation fees if cancelled in the first 14(?) days, and there's nothing stopping you cancelling with one after 14 days & using a different one for the next 14.
