These screens show off just how big battles can get in Sins - engage in exciting real-time battles with hundreds of ships on-screen, zooming seamlessly from a view of the entire star system down to see the engines on an individual fighter. The game should be available in February 2008

The art and ship design does look a bit funky. Will have to keep my eyes on this as i'm a sucker for space combat.

6Well that looks interesting. Tis good when a game manages to sneak in under the radar and impress - for example the witcher. Hopefully this'll be one of em.

looks impressive, as said above very homeworld-esque which is only a good thing, hope its more like a traditional RTS than homeworld mind, whens this due out?

I'm having trouble understanding these screenshots. As in how will the game be played. There are resources but i havent seen anything there yet about any construction or research menus for example to spend them. Large space stations look fun though. But the ship lists on the left hand side of the ui seem to denote pre set ships before the gameplay starts.

Is there any solid evidence for this game anywhere... should probably check ign.

edit: Damn those american dates, the fourth of february, not march. Just reading the main site for this and the scale of it looks so promising and happy making. :)

But my pc will likely not have been fixed by then, the long wait continues...

Its a shame its rts, i would prefer turn based 4x game myself. I did like homeworld but whenever anyone tryed to do the same type of game it failed.

I'm assuming you can build ships and stations since its 4X (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit and eXterminate), you can't really expand much if you can't build new units to occupy new areas. Also in the dev video i watched he said they had designed some of the multiplayer maps to be large enough to allow for games to last for months (the game implements a save feature, where if all of the players agree, you can save the game and come back to it another day - good idea), if you couldn't build any units within that month i imagine it would become a pretty dull game.

EDIT: there's a 100MB video of a dev walk through of the game on fileshack, tis worth a watch if you're interested.

Link would be nice then.

Edit: I presume this is it http://www.fileshack.com/file.x/11457/Sins+of+a+Solar+Empire+Gameplay+Movie

Edit 2: The game looks good but the left icon interface thing looks overwhelming. Also takes up a lot of the side of the screen which i dont like. I hope theres a good tutorial to learn the UI properly.

Battles look good but when the ship exploded that looked kinda crappy so i hope explosions look better in the final release with a shockwave and a slow build up animation of it being destroyed. With wreckage that you can salvage for resources like in some games like hw2.

Sorry, still kinda worried about linking stuff due to not knowing precisely what hotlinking is, and whether that was it (i'll go read the FAQ now).

After browsing the forums apparently 90% of the effects including beams and explosions are placeholders and will be replaced by the time the full game is released. One of the devs stated they intended to have the ships break down into pieces as they blew up when set to high graphical settings.

ive been watching this for along time now, looks very intresting and reminds me of a mix between Homeworld, Nexus and Imperium Galactica :p looks very promising the beta is out to people who pre order the feedback seems very impressive.

Deffinity one for everyone to keep an eye on ;)

Hey Neil, Can you get that FreeCol (Colonization remake) on your forum working? Keeps telling me cannot start server :(
