Sister's Cars been Clamped.

Hey my sister has her old car in the car park at the next of our house , like a fool she hasn't SORN it and its now been clamped. After reading the little slip, it is going to Cost a total of £360 ( £200 to pay the fine + £160 because she does not want to tax it but SORN it ).

Anyway my question is as the car is only worth £300 can we just let them take the car and crush it etc as there's really no point in paying more then the car is worth, Or will it get crushed and then still have to pay the fine?

They'll crush it and then charge you for the disposal of the vehicle, as well as the fine and probably more on top.

Is the car park private land or public. Surely they wouldn't have a right to clamp it if it was private land?

Because it aint some to bit private clamping company. Tis the DVLA and they can and will bend you over a barrel if you tamper with the clamp.

It's attached to your car.

We're not in Paris, where clamps were abandoned because anyone and everyone poured superglue in the lock of any clamp they saw.

get a saw and saw it off, i was clamped by a B&Q and went in there and boought a saw an managed to cut it off, took bloody ages though

If you want to bin the car, why not get a cutting torch and something to lift it up.

Cut off the axle (Making sure not to damage the clamp!) and remove + scrap the vehicle.

Then video it when they come back to check on it

Thanks guys shes going to follow your advice , shes going to cut off the clamp with a hacksaw and then is going to torch the car and then shes going to see if she can squeeze a whiplash claim in there as well.

When the DVLA truck comes to pick up the car shes going to drive in front of it and slam the breaks on! Sorted, holiday to Magaluf!

Look, i'm not condoning removing the clamp - I think the best thing to do is to pay up and not be so stupid in future.

But I would be tempted to cut it off and get the car scrapped - they can't prove you cut it off, so they'd have a hard time getting you charged for it. It would be worth it just to see them come back to a clamp lying on the ground.

This is not some ***** clamp this is a dvla clamp so i suggest you dont cut it off and cough up . Normaly im happy to agree with the masses about parking tickets and ***** clampers but Dvla ones are a different kettle of fish .
