Hi all,

Seems there are a lot of Xonar DX owners out there and was just wondering about the length of the card.

Have an asus p5q pro and am a bit worried about it hitting the ram headers in the first pci-e slot.

Thanks

Its pretty much guaranteed to hit the RAM headers. (unless someone's willing to confirm otherwise).

Unless you have dual GPU cards, put the Xonar in the black 16x PCI-E slot or just buy a Xonar D2 or D1 instead.

EDIT

Thought you meant the D2X, DX might be shorter...

D2X is 182mm apparently.

The DX is 170mm

However, at 170mm long (roughly six and three quarters inches, if you're an Imperialist), the card will require some open room behind your motherboard's PCI Express x1 slot.

Thanks

I roughly measured the space around the first pci-e slot and it was around 172mm so its close! Have a three slot cooler on my gpu so the only other option is a d1.

Do they need much airflow as I think the bottom of my case is pretty hot which was why I wanted to try and fit it in the pci-e slot.

It shouldn't overheat, I keep my Xonar D2X in a Lian Li V350 case, and thats got pretty ineffective cooling. Buy something like an Antec Spot Cool fan if you're worried about temps.
