Decided to take the g/f to Skegness for a week... anything much to see/do whilst down there?

So you booked a holiday without knowing anything about the destination? :o

Actually I have a few ideas, just want to know what peoples opinions are of the area :D

taking her to skeggy... are you trying to get rid? :p

Its cheap! and a week away from work ;)

I went camping with the g/f in Mablethorpe a couple of weekends ago. Took a day out to Skeggy.

All I can say is I hope the two of you enjoy your own company and aren't expecting much :p

That will be fine, I just expect to chill out somewhere :D

Is there buses which go to Mablethorpe/Fantasy Island/Ingoldmells?

I'm pretty sure I saw buses going from Skeggy to M'thorpe while I was in the car.

If you go to Mablethorpe the Seal Sanctuary is worth a look :) The two of us enjoyed it.

Whatever you do do not eat at 'Dave's restaurant'

I'll remember the name of that restaurant and avoid.

I'd just like to go somewhere a bit futher out once we arrive, just to see new places etc.

Think it's got a bit of a dodgy reputation mate, as you can see by the replies - but it's not too bad a place.

Some of the beaches are really nice, the one in the main fronts where all the kiddies fairs and the massive car park is great! The sea's not too bad either, the sands clean and I've been pretty impressed.

We've been going once a year for the past couple with mates, just descend down there for the day... never dissapointed, although we've always had 30 degree weather :p To be honest, in the UK you've not got much else to choose from! Unless your going down south to devon/cornwall. Anglesea's got a cracking beach as well.

There's a decent fair/theme park, about half as big as pleasure beach - then you've got Butlins if you get too bored......Wouldn't say it's bad at all :)

Me and the Mrs have been there ourselves. Be prepared to see lots of ageing chavs walking around with their bear guts hanging out.

Skegness is nice for a weekend away, but I do think you may be struggling for a whole week, unless you venture out of skegness. There is a very good bus service around the skegness area so you should have no problems getting around to other places. The bus station was built fairly recently and is next to the train station.

If I was you, I'd maybe see about getting a refund and go and stay somewhere like Scarborough or Bridlington - much nicer places with a lot more to the.
