***Ski / Board Season 2010/11***

I wrecked my knee at the end of last season. So no boarding for me till next season. ARRRGGH

Edward01: I prefer goggles. They shield my eyes from the wind more. Some people take glasses in there pockets for sitting around in resturants and stuff. But i've never.
Most budget goggles are fine. But you can spend a fortune easily.
As for jackets look for a snow skirt, so snow specific coats. Mine i got from TK MAXX, its quiksilver and is alright. But its just a shell so no fleece or much insulation. Means you layer up according to weather. Then hotter days you have less layers on, where as an insulated down jacket you cant remove the inside of. Much better IMO
Id go and try some on!

Nice easy day up at Glen Shee to start the season off, even managed a bit of offpiste (!).

Looks like some decent snow there. Might try and get up there if there's still some around in a few weeks. Was at Cairngorm before christmas and that was pretty good.

I'm off on Thursday for my first trip this season. Long weekend now and then another in Feb and just over a week in March.

Meribel this time and then Chamonix for the other two. Need some powder as I have a new powder board to try out: Jones hovercraft, with a big blunted nose and loads of rocker through the nose, camber between the bindings and a short swallow tail - should be immense!

Snow looks lovely there! I'm hoping it's been dumped on at Chatel / Portes du Soleil for the end of the month as I'm out on 26th I think it is.
Cannot wait for the chance to try the new boots and skis combo. Nothing better than a double whammy of new equip!

I'm heading to morzine on the 21st! :D Let's hope it snows around then. :)

It's really random, when I was in snow and rock getting my boots, the guy that was serving me was like "I'm going away end of Jan..." I was like Oh, where? He did the old, "Ah you won't know of it, a place called Chatel...?"

That train annoys me in Morzine, I missed it and everyone else in my party got on it. I had to walk the distance as that time was the first time there and no one told me it would be back in 10mins, I thought I'd be there for hours!

I'm hoping for powdery off piste that I can tear up a little bit (read: a lot!) and other than that I'm easy. Some sun would be nice, but defo prefer the snow.

I've got a soft spot for Chatel I used to go there a lot but haven't been back for about 6 or 7 seasons. Always nice to have the option to get up higher into Avoriaz when you need to, but Chatel is a much nicer place to stay and easy from Geneva.

One day to go now for me :)

I actually hate you a little bit. Sorry.

In the last 7yrs it's become massively busy. I'd actually say too busy and too English. The Russians are moving in too, buying up whatever they can. They've actually bought a hell of a lot of stuff in Europe. The majority of Val D'Isere is Russian owed now!

Further down from Chatel in La Chappelle, it's all French owned and they are really keen for it to stay that way (about 3 key families in the area that own all land/business) but I've met some of the Russian's in a bar and heard all about their plans. This guy had 3 proper huge henchmen with him with typical bad jumpers and Russian hats, it's like some crazy underworld stuff that you never think goes on.

;)

typo, I hope!

That's a shame to hear. I've heard more Russian accents in cham and val d'isere these past few seasons too. They do behave pretty horribly. Still, no plans to go back to chatel at the mo as I'm hooked on other areas right now.
