Hallo!

Looking for a holiday, skiing and snowboarding.

I'm sure there's plenty of boarders and skiers on these boards! :)

April 9th onwards, cheap and flying from Cardiff if possible.

I've had a look around and I'm nearly giving up! Hoping to find something soon, hoping for around the whole holiday including ski passes to be approximate 4-500.

Can you guys suggest anywhere?

April and cheap and terrible season in terms of snowfall ring warning bells. Make sure wherever you are choosing actually has a decent base.

Snow in Europe has been pretty mediocre to be honest so keep an eye on the reports toward April to see how the base holds out.

I'm glad to be in the USA, snow keeps coming for the Rockies.

I'm in the French alps at the moment, at a resort a little higher than Chamonix and I'd be surprised if the resort was open at the end of the month. The village is 13degrees at the moment, and on the piste it is about 6 or 7 degrees on the lower bits. Most of the pistes are turning in melting soup making skiing not very fun.

Your probably best of going to USA of Canada. Unless the alps drops in temp and has some snow I cantsee it being any good at April

where are you? I'm heading to Chamonix on Sat. I was there a month ago too and I'm reading some improvement. Forecast is for some more snow end of next week, but beyond about three days forecasts seem to be made up of hopes and lies;)

I'm in a village called les contamines, it's about 20 km away, just checked the forecast for next few days and it's sunny with temps at +12 degrees. So a litlle colder on the piste. Hopefully it might get colder. But prob not until we leave

ahhhh doesnt sound good with crap snow this time of year then.
I got a feeling I'm going to have to play it day by day, book the time off with work now and give them a call a week before (wherever I go) to find out if snow has fallen..

I know les contamines - well hope you get you some joy. I'm driving down on the weekend.

Echoing what others have said here, it's not been great for snow this year in Europe.

Austria is bascailly knackered and unless you are aiming for 2000m+ resort then you will probably have mediocre sking conditions.

I am going this weekend, for a week to La Plagne in the Alps (Paradiski region). They have some snow due this weekend and have had some recently, although not large amounts.

The weather for next week shows 6cm to drop and generally the temperatures are -1/0 degrees.

If you want to go last minute you might want to aim higher up, which generally means more expense but as it's last minute that might counter balance.

My advice is to not take any old cheap deal. Do a fair bit of research as to where is good at the moment.
