Am forced to connect directly to my TV as it's HDMI 2.2 so I can get 4K... Even though my sound bar lists it passthrough 4K I can't anything but 1080p. - Arcam solo bar.

So my main question is. Am I loosing much sound quality vis optical vs HDMI? Am talking about all the HD movies and not standard TV channels.

Thanks

Mot tv's only pass stereo through optical out. Even high end ones.

TV's aren't manufactured to process a lot of the new high quality sound formats, only the basic and most widely used.

Most boxes these days have both HDMI out and optical out. Can you not use both from the box rather than 1 from the box and 1 from the tv?
