Hey guys.

I'm after a bit of advice on choosing some over ear headphones for use with my mp3 player. I've been looking at skullcandy headphones and they look pretty funky and get decent sound quality reviews but I've heard that there are issues with them being rather fragile. Is there any truth in this and what do people here make of them?

Any other brands/models I should look into buying? My budget is about £40 but can stretch it a little more if need be.

Ta.

I had some skull candy headphones. Can't really remember how good the sound quality was, certainly wasn't terrible but I managed to snap them like 2 weeks after getting them.

So yeah pretty fragile. You can pretty much tell from looking at them, the plastic just looks flimsy.

They're crap.

My housemate keeps buying them and they keep breaking.

Oh well at least they look cool...

NAWT!!!!!

They're gash.

Go on Head-Fi.org and there's a couple of huge threads in the "Portable Headphones, Earphones and IEMs" forum where people have tested about 100 different IEMS at all different price points, creating tables of comparisons and general verdicts, as well as loads of smaller threads on what ones to buy for a certain budget, although most of them are in USD.

It's hard to recommend anything because at the cheaper end it's more about finding something suited to your ears, music e.t.c. since the differences, strengths and weaknesses can be quite pronounced.

Cheers guys.

I was put off buying skull candy headphones in the end and after browsing the net I settled on buying some Sennheiser PX200 II cans instead. They seem to be quite highly rated.

For the price, SONY MDR-V150

A Tenner, you cannot go wrong.

I recently bought a paif of SkullCandy and I then gave them to my daughter and she said they are ok, but she keeps nicking my Sonys.

Says it all and she is only 13

I wanted a set of Skullcandy Skullcrusher because dominik diamond did a review on them, if I remember they got 4 out of 5.

Thankfully I bought hd 595 instead.
