Yo,

Im doing abit of work for a client who needs his third party mail host to send outgoing mail through sky's SMTP server (smtp.tools.sky.com)

Iv tried the usual change smtp server to sky's, authentication all that rubbish but dont work.

As I have not dealt with Sky before, I spoke to someone who wasnt helpful, I asked to be put onto someone else who did help me.

Just want to clarify this will work (as im not in a position to test atm).

Before i change SMTP server details, goto www.sky.com/unlock and enter the e-mail address (the one that is hosted through 3rd party company), once unlocked, go into outlook, change SMTP server to smtp.tools.sky.com and change the SMTP port number to 465, apply all settings and restart.

Does this seem ok?

Obviously his incoming mail server will be 3rd party hosts

Thanks :)

Sorry to update thread but has anyone got any ideas on this? I am due to go to the customers site after work today.

Probably too late, but really you want to use another SMTP server to relay via, as Sky/Google don't provide a proper SMTP service. And preferably one associated with his domain so his mail doesn't fall foul of anti-spam checks enforced by some mail servers.

Not too late, I can still provide him support over the phone but I was there yesterday, had another word with Sky but didnt get anything from them. Tried various settings in outlook with regards to SMTP server settings.

Where or which servers would I relay it through? Could you give me more info?

Ideally one provided by his third party mail host.

I have tried the hosts outgoing mail server but still did not work. I will get him to contact his hosting company to see if there is any other relay server he can use.
