Father in law has a sky sat dish and has been given a freesat box. He is no longer with sky. Can he use the Sky dish with the freesat box as we tried today but no joy. Ta
When you turn the freesat box on, it should be able to show you the signal strength. Check that should tell you if the dish is out of alignment or not. (I Think lol)
I used to run our Freesat HD+ off our old Sky Dish. Just had to buy a new 4-way antenna to replace the old single way one and got a Satellite Tuner from Screwfix for £10 to align it. Easy Peasy.
Get hold of a satellite tuner like I posted above, take the coaxial from your Freesat unit to the tuner and a little link out of your tuner to your reciever, then move the dish about until you get as high as possible reading on the meter. Tis' a right doddle.
Don't forget Freesat boxes don't have an RF output, so you won't be able to send the picture around the house and use magic eyes, like you can with a sky box.
